Fundraising Activities

activites

Since 2001 Kate Parry, Patricia Woodard, and other friends have been organizing a regular benefit at Hunter College. The benefit takes the form of a reading, usually featuring colleagues in Hunter College’s Creative Writing program, including Louise DeSalvo, Jan Heller Levi, Emmy Hunter, Donna Masini, and Michael Thomas. Readers from outside the college have included Peggy Troupin and Kathleen Hill.

At the United Nations Pat Duffy, with the support of colleagues in the Languages Division, has been running a book sale for several years and donating most of the proceeds to the Kitengesa Library. She and her colleagues have also organized readings on its behalf, the most recent being by Professor Peter Singer in 2009.

The library sends out its own newsletter every year (click here to see the most recent) and is also featured in Friends of African Village Libraries (FAVL)’s biennial one (click here for FAVL’s most recent newsletter). These newsletters are widely distributed, in the UK and Canada as well as in the United States.

Kate Parry regularly makes presentations about the library to interested groups. Please contact her at kateparry@earthlink.net if you would like to arrange such a presentation or if you have any other suggestions regarding fundraising.
