Kitengesa
Community Library Scholars Program
The
extended library hours have created a need for more staff,
so we decided to obtain the extra person-hours by setting
up a Library Scholarship scheme. We have undertaken to raise
funds to pay tuition at Kitengesa Comprehensive Secondary
School for up to six students, while the school itself has
agreed to pay boarding fees for two of the scholars if they
live too far away to go home after working at night. In return,
each scholar agrees to spend 6-12 hours a week working in
the library. The first two scholars have already been selected
and were formally awarded certificates to mark their new status
on August 17, at the switching on ceremony.
