Electricity Comes to the Kitengesa Community Library

On the evening of July 29, 2004, at around 9 pm, something rather extraordinary happened in the small village of Kitengesa, in the library:

The lights came on!

Made possible with a small grant from the United Nations One Percent Fund, and the hard work of Professor Kate Parry and Kitengesa Comprehensive Secondary School Headmaster Mawanda Emmanuel, the community can now read in the library after dark.  The library is the first in the community to have electricity. We've documented entire installation event in photos.  Enjoy.
